MINISTRIES The Christian Education Committee is
responsible for all of the educational, mission, and fellowship activities
for the children and youth of Waverly. This includes Sunday School,
youth group, Wuppets (our puppet ministry), Summer Bible School and
ReCreation programs, and youth participation in worship. We also
coordinate Adult Sunday school, Sunday nursery care for children up
to age 5, and retreat programming. We meet the first Tuesday
of every month, and are always looking for new members. ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL Most every Sunday, the hour before church begins, 15-20 adults gather in the lounge to discuss topics of interest in the human spiritual journey. With the full knowledge that we don’t just go to heaven but “grow to heaven,” these discussions typically focus on practical applications of our faith. Past topics have included “Rabbi Kushner on the 23rd Psalm,” “The Relevancy of the 10 Commandments,” “If You Want to Walk on Water, You’ve Got to Get Out of the Boat,” “God Grew Tired of Us,” “The Nature of Forgiveness,” “Our Spiritual Gifts,” “Social Justice from the Jewish Perspective,” “Close Encounters of a Third Kind: Encountering God, Jesus, and Yourself,” and “Does Religion have a Place at Work?” Please join us any Sunday during the hour before church for a lively discussion on topics that will inspire your faith.
